Some of the best self-care is starting your morning with habits that empower you to show up as your best self. Ironically, my day began with a text from a sweet friend I haven’t talked to in a while, telling me about a book she was reading about morning routines. It’s actually one of the books that helped me develop my morning routine. Yet, today was one of those days when I just wasn’t feeling it. I skipped a few of the items on my list and called it good. Say it with me… “good enough” is not conducive to an intentional day.
When I showed up to my coaching call with this mindset, I did not like who I saw in the Zoom window. Me, not him. He looked put together, as always. I kept looking at myself when I was talking and thought, wow, okay, what’s happening here?! Not only did I look out of sorts… I felt out of sorts. It’s time to get your core habits back in check, sister.
Having a day like this is 100% OKAY. I promise you, no single person in this world is perfect and has it all together every single day. We all have days when we don't sleep well or we’re having cramps. Allow yourself the grace to admit that. You can always make note of where your systems broke down and do what you need to do to get it back on track.
If you don’t show up for yourself, you can’t show up for the world. Get back to the core habits. Rewrite the list, shake it up. Put it fresh in your mind and get excited about it again. Then get to work. Consistency is the key! It doesn’t have to be perfect to be done.
